Raspberry ‘Chilliwack’ is a summer fruiting variety with big, delicious, plump, firm berries that you can harvest for four to five weeks. In ideal conditions a smaller, second crop can be harvested in autumn. The bush has top disease resistance, vigorous growth and very few thorns and strong stems less likely to need staking.

Raspberry ‘Chilliwack’ berries are yummy from the bush, in jams and cooking. The berries hold well the branches, so you don’t need to harvest them all at once to get the best flavour from them. It was bred in Canada in the 1980’s. It is a Floricane variety that fruits on second year canes, allow new canes to shoot and prune only canes that have fruited to the ground.

Raspberries grow well in cool climates and are pretty easy care and the plants produce reliably for many years. They are self fertile.

Plant Raspberries in full sun. A humus rich, well drained soil is ideal. Space 150-180cm apart. Plant the cane quite shallow, around 10cm deep. Water in and keep moist when in flower and fruit. Add some mulch to help with water retention and weed reduction.
