Daphne 'Perfume Princess'
The largest flowers for the longest time.
In stock
Fabulous XL flowers for winter with a perfume worthy of a princess.
Daphne ‘Perfume Princess’ grows in sun or shade and is a winner, even in warmer climates. The leaves are lovely and big, and they don’t turn yellow like so many Daphne's do. The flowers are four times as big as the Daphne odora species and have a delicious perfume. The fragrance is lovely and sweet with citrus undertones. The lilac buds fade to white and open all down the stem – giving you even more fragrance.
Daphne are tidy, evergreen bushes. The gorgeous flowers open from winter to spring. Their lovely scent wafts through your garden, and when picked will fill your home with perfume.
Daphne like morning sun, and almost anywhere that has shade from the hot afternoon sun – though Daphne ‘Perfume Princess’ is quite forgiving.
Plant Daphne ‘Perfume Princess’ in humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Space 100cm apart; remember they are relatively slow growing. Ensure their roots are kept cool. Water to establish, then only if rainfall is low. Adding some mulch in summer will help with water retention. Daphne's are suitable for growing in pots, where you can move them about to enjoy the magnificent fragrance.
