Aquilegia Red Hobbit
Eye catching colour.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

A medium growing plant with fire engine red and bright white blooms. This Aquilegia even copes with sun and poor soil better than most.
The mid green, deeply divided foliage of Aquilegia ‘Red Hobbit’ forms a dense clump beneath the blooms. It is a beautiful foil for other plants and it develops in early spring, just in time to fill in for the fading spring bulbs.
Aquilegia are suitable for growing in a lightly shaded to morning sun position. Plant them as massed plantings, interspersed in garden beds or in large containers. After the initial flowering has finished, cut the stems back to the basal foliage to encourage future blooms. Leaving the last flowers of the season to form seed heads for future generations of plants is a good idea – you can collect it yourself or allow it to self sow. Keep in mind seedlings are unlikely to flower true to type as they hybridise easily – though this one has a pretty good track record.
Aquilegia should be planted in humus rich, moist, well drained soil. The flowers are suitable for picking.
