Strong, upstanding stems of violet blue florets from early summer. The mid green foliage forms a generous rosette beneath the stems. The maroon calyxes reflect the violet blue florets perfectly and set them aglow.
Salvias have so much to offer gardeners and there is an impressive array to choose from.
These Salvias are dry tolerant once established and look wonderful in beds, borders or dry gardens. They have a vigorous growth and are easy care, with solid heat tolerance and frost resistance.
Grow this herbaceous perennial in a sunny location in well drained soil. Remove spent flowers to encourage even more blooms.
Salvia amplexicaulis is dormant through winter with nice new growth emerging from spring.
