Yellow Ixia
Up to four weeks of flowers!
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

Stunning, primrose yellow, star shaped flowers with black centres. The buds are pink and lemon, a beautiful combination of colour.
Each bloom is 5-7cm across, blooming for a long period late spring to summer. Ixias are easy, simply plant, relax and enjoy as they come back year and year without any fuss.
Ixia also make excellent cut flowers and the blooms will last around 2 weeks in a vase. They have narrow, grass like foliage.
Ixia originate in the sandy soils of the mountainous grassland in South Africa. They grow well in a sunny, well drained position. Plant the corm 10-15cm deep and 10cm apart with the pointy end up. Water to establish then only if rainfall is low. Bulbs are best left in the soil to naturalise and you will only need to dig and divide them after around four or five years. We recommend adding a general purpose fertiliser as they begin to bloom. Apart from that just relax and enjoy the show!
Try planting Ixia at the front of a bed, as part of a lawn planting or in a container. Like most spring flowering bulbs, they look best when planted in clumps.
Ixia are in the same family as Iris.
