Scilla 'Amethyst Meadow Squill'
Long lived and generous.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.
Generous with flowers and foliage, Amethyst Meadow Squill is a winner. The tight, clustered buds open into stunning, star shaped florets. There are up to 50 on a stem and they last around three weeks, opening late spring to summer, as the spring bulbs are finishing and the perennials are just emerging.
It holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, so you know it will be hardy and reliable. The lush, upright, green leaves grow to around 15cm and the blooms open on strong stems high above it.
Amethyst Meadow Squill naturalises/perennialises well and will produce offsets at a nice, steady pace.
Plant Amethyst Meadow Squill in well drained, humus rich soil in a full sun to light shade position. Water well in active growth and allow the bulb to remain relatively dry during dormancy.
Other names for Amethyst Meadow Squill are Syn. Scilla amethystine, S. pratensi, Wood Squill and Meadow Squill. It is native to Croatia.
