You can enjoy up to 150 days of flowers from this pocket rocket. The flowers transform from pastel pink or blue* through to red, or deep plum burgundy. In spring, the flowers open at the lighter end of the spectrum, then mature with green flushes and deeper shades into the cool weather of autumn and winter.
Cut flowers have nothing on a well tended pot of these! This revolutionary Hydrangea can be bought indoors for display through the Christmas season. Indoors keep away from heating and rejuvenate outdoors over winter dormancy.
Abundant, compact Hydrangeas perfect for patios or a shaded spot in the landscape. Hydrangea ‘Magical Revolution’ has improved resistance to sun, frost, rain and all the elements.
The mophead flowers open freely over the large leaves. It is easy care and compact enough to enjoy in containers as well as the garden.
This marvellous shrub has lush green foliage, mounding 70-100cm high but in containers it will be more compact. The flowers open on last season’s growth, so the plants should be pruned after flowering.
Hydrangeas grow best planted in a sheltered position of the garden where the roots are cool and moist. It is a good idea to add plenty of organic matter or some fertiliser to the soil as it will result in masses of stunning blooms.
Hydrangea flowers are good for picking. To help make the flowers last longer, bring a bucket of water out with you to the garden, plunge them in as soon as you have cut the stem. Once you are inside, cut them again and hold them in hot, boiled water for 30 seconds before arranging in a vase.
* You can manipulate the flower colour by adjusting the PH of the soil. Yates make it easy with Hydrangea Pinking Liquid (Lime/Dolomite) and Hydrangea Blueing Liquid (Aluminium sulphate). As they age blue turns to green, then plum and burgundy shades. Pink turns from baby pink to greens then reds with green highlights.
