Species Tulips Wild Tulip
Glowing golden garden stars.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

The flowers are dainty and have a slight but sweet scent. Wild Tulip is a good choice for naturalising amongst grass as the foliage is narrow and you don't notice it too much as it fades.
The blooms open from green buds with an average of two a stem. They are 35cm tall.
The bulbs are stoloniferous and grow quite deep as they establish, up to 50cm. They will multiply comfortably but no so as they become invasive. Wild Tulip or Tulipa sylvestris is happiest in full sun in a well drained soil. Use a liquid fertiliser once flowering has started until the foliage fades for best flowers next season.
Species Tulips have a more relaxed or whimsical feel than the common hybridized varieties. If planted in a well drained soil in a spot that does not get too hot over summer then the bulbs can be left in the ground for many years. Species Tulips are ideal for rock gardens, lawn plantings, pots or towards the front of a border.
