A compact, semi double white flowering variety with impressive vigour. Anemone ‘Snow Angel’ can settle in quickly and produce masses of blooms from late summer into autumn. They don’t need much care to look good and this mid sized version fits easily into small or large, cottage and formal garden styles.
Japanese Anemones are easy to grow and love. The longer they have to establish, the more flowers you will be able to enjoy. Even after the flowers have faded, the seed heads remain decorative and can be left standing to extend the show into winter.
The flowers open on narrowly branched stems over deep green foliage. Japanese Anemones will quickly grow to form a healthy clump making them an easy choice to add height in a shady border.
Plant Japanese Anemones in moist, humus rich, well drained soil. They grow best in a morning sun or part shade position though, with a bit of extra water will succeed in sun. Anemone ‘Snow Angel’ is even compact enough to grow in pots. A light application of fertiliser in spring is all they need.
Cut back Japanese Anemones in winter and add some mulch to protect the plant. Alternatively leave the foliage until spring and then prune to tidy.
The flowers of Japanese Anemones can be picked for indoor displays where they last well.
