A solid performer with plenty of juicy fruits. The stems are practically thornless and have lovely, glossy, evergreen leaves. The globe shaped Tahitian Lime fruits have a soft, thin skin. Growing one or two of these dwarf specimens in a patio pot can come in handy for food and drink recipes, you can even use the leaves.
A good, heavy producer with fruits in around three years. You might get some early fruits, but they won’t be as tasty as they could be so are best removed to allow the plant to settle in quicker. During this time, the tree is establishing a good, healthy root system, and putting on strong growth before they are ready to crop. Once they are up and running they will bring you decades of delicousness.
The small size of these citrus trees makes them lovely and versatile and a cinch to care for. They don’t mind humidity, coastal conditions or frost. Fragrant creamy white flowers open largely in winter and spring but can spot flower throughout the year. Harvest is mainly autumn but once established can remain year round. Plant in the garden or large pot, they don’t mind being on high rise balconies either. Relatively tough but should be protected from hard frosts. Can even be grown on high rise balconies. Keep them well nourished with a citrus fertiliser every six months or so.
