Agapanthus 'Purple Cloud'
Large, deepest indigo flower heads.
In stock

A burly and braw, tall growing Agapanthus with nice big flower heads (to 25cm). This is one of the deepest purples available.
Agapanthus ‘Purple Cloud’ is tough, hardy and dry tolerant too. Mostly sterile it is highly unlikely to spread. Herbaceous, becoming dormant in winter.
Agapanthus are at home in garden beds, as feature plants, in pots, alongside grasses or edging plants.
Agapanthus are easy care plants that provide months of flowering with very little effort. The gorgeous, strappy, deciduous (therefore more cold hardy) foliage is the perfect complement to the tall blooms. An easy choice for gardens, borders or pots.
Plant in a full sun to part shade position in a moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil, they are at home in sandy soils too. They are robust and resilient and don’t have any issues with pests or disease.
Water to establish (plants take around four weeks for the roots to penetrate the surrounding soils), then only if rainfall is low. By removing the spent flower heads you will encourage even more to bloom and extend the season. Dig and divide every three or four years or as required.
The name Agapanthus comes from the Greek Agape meaning love and Anthos meaning flower. But they don’t need a lot of love to grow and flower well.
