A fast favourite with midnight red flowers that stretch to a whopping 20cm across, held firm by their sturdy stems. The silken, ruffled petals have black beauty spots. They have excellent substance and stand up to the weather. The blooms open freely on strong, upright stems and are great for picking. They rise up at the perfect time to fill in for the spring flowering bulbs such as tulips.

Oriental Poppy ‘Red Rumble’ boasts strong disease resistance, is impressively compact with tidy, deeply divided, silver green foliage. The leaves stand well, and are an attractive feature of the plant.

Poppies are great garden additions. They have low growing foliage and an abundance of tall stems bedecked in spectacular blooms. They are long lived and fanciful from bud to bloom, even the seed pods are something to cherish. Best in a sheltered spot out of strong winds.

Oriental Poppies are dry tolerant once established, great for picking, frost hardy and low maintenance. Bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects love them too. Remove spent flowers to encourage more to grow.

Plant Oriental Poppies in moderately fertile to humus rich, moist, well drained soil for best flowers. Grow in full sun to light shade, they need six or so hours to flower well. Keep moist in active growth for best blooms. They can go dormant in summer to avoid the heat, coming back in the cool of autumn. They have no issue with frost.
