Poa 'Suggan Buggan'
New in 2025.
In stock

Upright to arching, evergreen stems of narrow blue leaves. It grows with haste to a good size. You will get the best flowers and foliage colour in a full sun location.
Poa labillardieri are useful to add structure and texture to the landscape. Their blue colouring is ethereal in effect and the matching blue flowers very welcome and softening. They are dry tolerant, sun loving and easy. Wonderful in combination with Salvias, Echinacea, Kniphofia, Achillea, Iris and other bulbs.
Plant Poa ‘Suggan Buggan’ in a moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Choose a sunny spot to highlight the plants best features. In part shade they won’t grow as big and won’t be as upright. Attractive to birds, they are great in coastal locations, tolerant of exposed conditions and poor soils. It can be left to stand or cut Poa back to around 10 after flowering. I prefer to leave mine.
Poa ‘Suggan Buggan’ was a chance finding near its namesake in Gippsland, Victoria. Poa are commonly known as Australian Blue Grass.
