Southern Catalpa flowers in summer. The blooms are large and white with yellow and purple patterns. The flowers open in loose racemes from late spring. The flowers are followed by long thin ‘beans’ which last into autumn.
The large, heart shaped floppy leaves (to 25cm) of Southern Catalpa create a lovely, lush feel ( to 25cm).
Southern Catalpa is a quick growing tree that forms a great shade canopy. The extensive root system holds the ground together and is good for reducing erosion.
