A beautiful Australian shade tree.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

China Berry has glorious, fragrant, lilac spring flowers. It is a vigorous tree with high ornamental value.
The foliage is a lush, medium green that blends to yellow in autumn. From late spring, the tree is covered in fragrant, lilac floral sprays. These are followed by ornamental yellow fruits that decorate the braches through autumn and into winter. The bark is grey brown and furrows with maturity.
China Berry or Melia azedarach is endemic to NSW, Qld and parts of the NT and can be grown almost anywhere. They are commonly seen in street plantings in Victoria; along with their ornamental value, they are adaptable, fast growing and dry tolerant once established.
Plant in a well drained soil in a sun to part sun position. China grows to become a handsome shade tree with an umbrella shape quite quickly. Takes only around 5 years to become a decent tree, 20 years to maturity.
China Berry is also known as Persian Lilac or White Cedar. China berry is suitable for medium to large gardens and urban planting.
