Flamboyant, double, lemon flowers. On established plants, the blooms are abundant. A Lemoine Tree Peony that was bred in France in 1935.
Tree Peonies bring imperial splendour to your garden.
These exotic blooms have been cherished since the 5th century. During their long and illustrious history, Peonies have been the flower favoured by Emperors and Gods. Fortunately, they are now accessible to the common gardener.
Tree Peonies look exotic and temperamental and yet they are pretty hardy and grow well in Australian gardens. So don't be intimidated by their beauty, indulge in an abundant spring to summer display of intoxicating loveliness.
You will have to be patient for at least one year before you can enjoy the flowers of Tree Peonies, but the wait will be justified for many years. They also make a wonderful cut flower.
Tree Peonies need cold winters for best flowers. We recommend you treat your Tree Peonies a bit like hungry teenage boys and feed them well! Water to establish then only if rainfall is low. Dry tolerant once established. Tree Peonies differ from Herbaceous Peonies in that they have a woody base.
