Foxglove 'Polkadot Polly'
Impressive and long lasting.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.
Dense flower racemes of glorious peach and pink shades.
The Polkadot Foxgloves have larger flowers that open in nice, dense racemes. They can produce 8-10 stems and if you cut the first round back and add some fertiliser and water you can even enjoy round two later in the season. The flowers are sterile, so the blooms will last quite a long time.*
The inner petals have white and maroon polka dots. Polkadot Foxgloves grow 60-90cm tall on strong stems. The base of the stems have evenly branched foliage. These Foxgloves are true perennials and will live for 3-5 years in the garden.
Digitalis look best grouped toward the middle or back of a bed, where their tall blossoms add beautiful towers of colour.
Foxgloves bloom from the base of the stalks, moving gradually upwards, providing a long show of fantastic colour. Our tip – if you are keen to cut the flowers and want to get the best longevity, cut them in the morning, when the florets are one third to half open.
Plant Foxgloves into well drained soil, water in and keep moist in active growth. Choose a sunny spot out of strong winds.
* The flowers last longer because a plants main goal in life is to reproduce, so when it is unable to produce seed, it keeps on trying in vain, hence the flowers are more enduring.
