Orchid Cactus Collection
Large, colourful flowers.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

Orchid Cactus have large flowers in bright colour combinations that bloom up to 23cm across! The flowers are flared trumpets in single and double layers of petals. The leaves are flat and fleshy, with deep lobes and they are long and glossy. The flowers open along the leaves. Flowers open October/November and will bring months of colour. Orchid Cactus grow well in hanging baskets and pots. They like a bright light position, so Patios are perfect. They can even be grown indoors by a well window. Orchid Cactus are endemic to the rainforests of South America and the West Indes. While the plant may produce lots of buds, many will fall. This is not because you are a poor gardener, it just takes too much energy to form such large flowers from the plant so it ‘aborts’ the buds. The roots of Orchid Cactus are shallow, they are an Epiphytic cactus in nature. They are easily damaged so care should be taken when planting. Liquid fertilise fortnightly when in flower. A collection of named varieties. Supplied as cuttings.
