This legendary plant can handle a dry spell and doesn't take much looking after. Quick to establish and easy to use.
Nepeta 'six Hills Giant' is well known for its abundant flower display and the tall stems of lavender blue flowers open in their masses forming a cloud over this splendid plant.
The mounds of grey green leaves will gradually spread and fill out. The leaves velvety to the touch and are aromatic, with a lemon like smell when brushed against or crushed. Suitable for gardens, under roses, as edging or in containers. Flowers have a pretty good vase life.
Nepeta is also known as Catmint. It is an easy care plant with few insect or disease problems. Dead head them regularly for constant flowers, OR cut back hard after the first flush of flowers, (around mid to late December) then fertilise for a repeat bloom into autumn.
Nepeta grows best in full sun to part shade. In warmer climates it will fair better with some protection from the hot afternoon sun. Plant in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Water to establish then only if rainfall is low.
