Weigela 'Foliis Purpueris' is more spreading in habit. It has dark pink flowers which are softer pink inside. The handsome foliage is deep green, with a bronze to purple hue. The leaves have better colour in full sun.
Each trumpet shaped bloom is around 4cm long. They open in cymes of three or four, late spring into summer.
Weigela are gorgeous, deciduous shrubs with a compact, rounded habit. Grow Weigela as part of a shrub border, or as a specimen plant.
Plant Weigela in humus rich, well drained soil. Choose a full sun to semi shade position.
