Eggplant 'Bonica' produces large, tasty, purple fruits. It is a heavy cropper with good disease resistance. It is early fruiting, expect to harvest 14-16 weeks from planting. The flowers are small and pink.
Eggplants grow best in a full sun position and produce fruit in the warmer months. They have similar growing conditions to Tomatoes and Capsicums. Water to establish and keep moist in active growth. It is a good idea to add some mulch to help with water retention. Regular applications of liquid fertiliser will maximize fruit production.
Eggplant is delicious cooked in a Baba Ganoush, roasted, barbequed, in Ratatouille and more.
