The white, star shaped flowers open late spring to early summer. The flowers are perfect for picking as they last a long time. Each floret is 5-7cm across.
The bright green, lance like foliage grows 20-60cm long. Camassia x leichtlinii `Alba` looks best planted in clumps.
Camassia x leichtlinii `Alba` is easy to grow and in the right conditions will multiply well.
Plant Indian Hyacinth in humus rich, moist, well drained soil. They thrive in a full sun to semi shade location. Water in well and keep moist in active growth. It is native to damp meadow areas of North America, there the bulbs were cooked and eaten by the Native Americans.
Indian Hyacinths are suitable for borders, rockeries, by streams or ponds and grass or meadow planting. The bulbs are long lasting and will gradually multiply. The bulbs are best left to naturalise and should only be lifted as they become overcrowded.
Indian Hyacinths are also known as Great Camas or Quamash.
