Kurdish Mountain Tulip
One of the best.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

The Kurdish Mountain Tulip hails from the rugged slopes of Northern Iran and Turkmenistan. It toughs out those trying conditions with ease, so it is pretty easy to grown in our conditions. This variety is said to be one of the best for warmer climates.
The bulbs can left in the ground year after year with none of the fancy lifting that the hybrids require. Ensure the soil is well drained and they remain fairly dry over their dormancy.
The flowers are brilliant red with a black base and yellow anthers.
The flowers grow to 8cm across.
The foliage of the Kurdish Mountain Tulip is grey green and grows to 15cm long, with wavy edges.
Botanically, the Kurdish Mountain Tulips is Tulipa montana and was previously known as Tulipa wilsoniana.
Species Tulips have a more relaxed or whimsical feel than the common hybridized varieties. If planted in a well drained soil in a spot that does not get too hot over summer then the bulbs can be left in the ground for many years. Species Tulips are ideal for rock gardens, lawn plantings, pots or towards the front of a border.
