Species Crocus Ruby Giant
An early gem.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

Rich, deep violet purple petals with a hint of ruby.
Giant may be too strong a word, but it is certainly larger than its counterparts, and it is quick at multiplying too! One of the earliest cultivars of these Crocus to bloom, combining others will give you a long lasting show.
Crocus tommasinianus are commonly known as Woodland Crocus, and, as this name suggests are more tolerant of shade than most Crocus varieties.
Crocus grow best in Cool to Mediterranean climates where they look best in rockeries, beds and pots. Plant in a sunny spot into well drained soil.
Crocus will tolerate light shade, such as under deciduous trees, especially in more temperate zones. The bulbs don't need to be lifted every year, so you can allow them to naturalise and only dig and divide after four or five years. Protect new growth from slugs and snails. Fertilise Crocus annually in spring. They are suitable for planting in pots.
