Japanese Zelkova
A well formed shade tree.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

Zelkova grow with beautiful spreading canopy from a nice straight trunk. The handsome grey bark is smooth and peels to expose orange colouring beneath.
The mid green leaves are narrow and toothed. They turn yellow, copper or red in autumn before falling. In spring there are flowers and fruits (inedible) but they are almost invisible amongst the handsome leaves.
Zelkova are similar to Elms and can be treated in the same manner. They prosper in most soils and are very tolerant of urban environs. Zelkova are happy in open positions. They are long lived and settle in readily with a moderate to fast growth rate. In Australia it is unlikely to reach the full 30m. Dry tolerant once established.
