Geranium Nigricans
A beautiful rarity.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.
Gorgeous chocolate foliage topped with pretty white flowers. The dark leaves turn a glorious orange in autumn. Each leaf is between 1.5 and 3cm across.
Geranium ‘Nigricans’ is a great addition to rock gardens, pots, or as a little edging plant. It isn’t big but by golly it is beautiful. Best to plant it where it can be admired.
While mainly grown for it’s handsome foliage, Geranium ‘Nigricans’ also has a long flowering period, with blooms beginning to open as early as late spring, and continuing on into autumn. The petals are white with the softest pink blush. The flowers will produce seed, so the seedlings can be easily moved around or shared.
Best planted in a part shade, or morning sun position, in moderately fertile to humus rich soil. Water in, and keep moist during active growth. In cold climates they are dormant over winter and will reshoot as the weather warms for spring. In more mild climates they will remain evergreen, but it is a good idea to tidy the foliage in spring when the new growth is coming through.
