This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.
A delicious garlic with a rich, bold flavour. Purple Stripe Garlic has a great shelf life and is easy to grow in Cool to Mediterranean areas of Australia. The bulbs are white with a purple blush or stripe. Up to 12 cloves can be harvested in a season.
One clove supplied per pot, which yields a large bulb next season.
The dark green foliage is quite erect and grows to around a metre, but can stretch to almost two. The leaves can be used in salads also. The flowers form late spring to summer and are a mix of purple and white, just like the bulbs, we recommend removing them however so you can enjoy larger bulbs in the kitchen. This type of garlic is known as a hardneck garlic.
Plant your Garlic around the shortest day of the year and you should harvest it on around the longest day. Once harvested dry the bulbs out of direct sunlight until the outer skin is papery. Stored in a cool, dry place, bulbs will last for up to 9 months. It is a good idea to retain a few good sized cloves to replant next season. If you would like to companion plant, combining garlic with roses will help to reduce pests such as aphids on your roses.
