The cloud of delicate, blue blooms float over the fine, airy foliage is a sight to behold. It is one of the rare, true blue plants gardeners can enjoy. Corydalis ‘Porcelain Blue’ is sensational in rock gardens or shaded borders and is a knockout in pots.

This dreamy spring show can repeat in autumn with spot flowering in winter and summer.

The finely divided leaves are a standout year round. They will grow to form a soft mound of grey-green foliage that looks continuously elegant. In autumn, it gets even better when it takes on a bronze blush.

Corydalis ‘Porcelain Blue’ grows best in humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Grow in a morning sun, afternoon shaded position. Water in and keep fairly moist, they don’t like to dry out during active growth but will rot if left to sit in water. The flowers are a magnet for bees and other beneficial garden insects.

Most of these Corydalis species are summer dormant, but this variety remains evergreen, it does slow down a bit over summer but, if you make the effort to keep the water up to them, the blooms will be there for you. Keep an eye out for slugs and snails who find the leaves just as appealing as gardeners.

Suitable for growing in pots, but you will need to ensure you water well, as potting mix is perfectly drained and don’t forget to add some fertiliser in spring.
