The small, nodding flowers bloom in brilliant shades of deep blue throughout the spring. A superior form, `Spring Beauty` has larger flowers (1.5-2cm across) than your average Siberian Squill. There are 3-5 flowers on each stem. The number of blooms will increase as the bulbs mature. Scilla `Spring Beauty` is versatile succeeding in sun and shade.
Early spring flowering, these flowers show up just as the Galanthus are fading. A bulb so hardy it really does grow in Siberia.
Flower stems to 20cm above lance shaped basal foliage that averages 10-15cm long. The foliage is quick to fade after the blooms finish so there isn`t a lot of messy foliage around as there often is with bulbs. Plant at the edge of trees and hedges, or liberally in grass and they will form large colonies that go dormant by the time grass needs to be mowed.
