Agastache 'Sangria' foliage forms a handsome, bushy mound that is topped with a flourish of blooms from summer to autumn. The flowers form in upright, magenta pink spires.
Agastache 'Sangria' stands up to the summer heat. The fragrant foliage is green with a handsome bronze blush. It is both compact and well branched.
The foliage of Agastache has a lemon-anise fragrance. This is strongest when brushed up against, so if you like it, plant it where it can be enjoyed such as by a pathway. The new leaves can even be brewed to make tea.
Agastache 'Sangria' looks fantastic in dry beds, cottage gardens, rock gardens and large containers. It is an excellent plant for attracting birds, bees and beneficial insects to your garden.
You should dead head Agastache flowers regularly to encourage more blooms.
Tolerant of poor soils, so long as they are well drained, Agastache are ideal for providing long lasting colour as a dry garden plant. Agastache plants prefer a full sun to light shade position. Agastache need water to establish, then only if rainfall is low. However the flowering season will last longer if the plant is kept moist. Cut back to the ground in winter to maintain a healthy bush.
Agastache is also known as 'Hummingbird Mint', and is a native to the south western U.S.A. It is an excellent plant for attracting birds, bees and beneficial insects to your garden.
