The Judas Tree has an open, spreading habit it with delicate, gently arching branches. In spring these branches and the trunk are covered in rose pink to lilac, pea like flowers.

The flowers of Judas Tree are followed by seed pods that are blushed with purple.

The foliage is heart shaped, in a beautiful blue-green colour that turns yellow in autumn.

Plant Cercis in moist, well drained soil. They like at least six hours sun a day for the best flowers.
