An small ornamental shrub. Also known as ‘Corkscrew Hazelnut’ or ‘Harry Lauder’s Walking Stick’. While the bronze-green foliage is attractive over summer and quite nice when it turns gold in the autumn it is during the winter months when this shrub comes into its own.
The leaves fall revealing twisted and contorted branches which are joined in late winter through to spring by yellow catkins which add to the unique appearance.
Plant Hazelwood ‘Contorta’ as part of a shrub border, garden bed, as a specimen or in a large pot. Plant into humus rich, well drained soil. Plant in a full sun to semi shade position.
