Amazing blooms from mid-summer to autumn, with around four months of flowers. On upright racemes, the individual, white flowers of Obedient Plant 'Alba' are 2-3cm long.
The spoon shaped leaves of have a sharp variegation. The foliage is mid green and grows to 13cm. Obedient Plant 'Alba' forms nice clumps of erect, square stems.
It is branded 'The Obedient Plant' because you can turn the flowers left or right and they will stay where put for a time. If you leave them to do their thing, they will swivel in the direction of the sun. It is also known as False Dragonhead because it resembles Dracocephalum.
Plant Physostegia 'Alba' in moderately fertile to humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Plant in full sun to part shade. Water to establish, then only if rainfall is low.
