These Pincushion flowers are totally fabulous. The deep, lavender blue blooms have pretty, ruffled petals. The flowers open for months in the garden and are good for picking too. Each bloom is around 8cm across.
Scabiosa 'Debbie Norgate' was bred by Victorian Nurseryman, Dennis Norgate. Dennis has been growing and selling plants in Australia for 60 years and says that this is one of the best. He named this cultivar after his daughter, so it is very special to get a commendation of this note from Dennis.
The leaves are grey green with medium gloss.
Grow Scabiosa in a sunny garden spot with moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. They prefer a neutral to slightly alkaline PH if you wanted to be fussy. Water to establish and keep moist in active growth. Keep relatively dry over winter dormancy.
Remove spent flowers regularly during growth to keep the plants tidy and prolong the flowering season.
Scabiosa are commonly known as Pincushion Flowers. Plant Scabiosa in rock gardens, mixed borders, wild gardens or large containers.
