Parlour Palm

An elegant little Palm with narrow, mid green leaves. This is one of the classic indoor plants, long loved for its ease of care and beauty. The lush green fronds make your home or office a more welcome and beautiful place.
It was named as the Parlour Palm as it was so popular in the Victorian age when it was shown off in the ‘good room’ where you invited guests.
They also make great potted gifts. They are quite versatile as you can keep them small in a smaller pot or even terrarium. They are really forgiving and will just grow within their bounds so you have great control over how big you want it.

I see the light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. You should be able to read during the day in their position in the room without turning on a light. If you only have artificial light, they will need about eight to ten hours a day – so good for the office. They are quite adaptable and will often succeed where others have failed.
Water needs: Water thoroughly, then allow the top of the soil to dry out before watering again.
I will Survive: In pots choose a good quality potting mix to ensure they have the drainage they need. Choose an option with drainage holes, or be promise to be careful with watering - they don’t like to sit in boggy soils. A diluted liquid fertiliser in spring and summer will keep them happy and healthy. If you want it to grow large, gradually increase the size of the pot each year to allow them room to expand. Only remove fronds if they brown, they will naturally die as the plant grow. Once mature you should only repot every two or three years as they would rather be left alone.
Keep the leaves clean with a regular wipe – this will keep them looking good and growing well.
