An evergreen ground cover for shade.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.
Masses of tiny 'true blue' flowers cover this evergreen perennial throughout spring. As the blooms age, they take on more violet shades. Each flower is just under a centimetre across, they open on loose racemes over the foliage.
Omphalodes 'Cherry Ingram' is a wonderful evergreen shady ground cover.
The heart shaped foliage of Omphalodes 'Cherry Ingram' are a lovely green and form a dense ground cover. It will even shine through frost. The leaves grow to around 10cm long.
Plant Omphalodes 'Cherry Ingram' along garden edges, in pots or rockeries. The dense foliage can be inter-planted with spring bulbs for a bonus display - as the bulbs die back, their foliage will be masked by the Omphalodes.
Grow Omphalodes 'Cherry Ingram' in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Water to establish then only if rainfall is low. Grow in filtered light to part shade. In cool climates more sun will be tolerated but you will need to water the plants more often.
Omphalodes 'Cherry Ingram' holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit.
