Sea Holly's love the sun and their spiky form is excellent for adding texture to the garden. The blooms last and last and can also be cut and dried.
Plant Mexican Sea Holly in a sunny spot to get the best colouring. Sea Holly grows best in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Though they very adaptable and are endemic to poor, dry and rocky soils. Good drainage is the most important element and they will thrive in hot, dry sites. Water to establish, then only if rainfall is low. They are dry tolerant once established.
Their spiky form is excellent for adding texture to the garden. They are a perfect compliment to a cottage border.
