Upright, narrow petals open with gentle grace as the days begin to warm. The larger petals have white detailing on the arch of the bloom. In optimal conditions and planted in clumps they will look amazing for four or five weeks. The bulbs will gradually multiply.

Reticulata Iris flower early in the spring bulb season, with the Crocuses, from late winter to early spring. Their name, reticulata refers to the outer layer of the bulb which looks like a net.
Dwarf Iris are hardy bulbs that will tolerate frost, full sun to semi shade and any well drained soil. Fertilise them with the flower in spring with a high potassium or liquid fertiliser.

Plant Dwarf Iris `Purple Gem` around 8cm deep and space the bulbs 5cm apart. Water in well, then you will only need to water again if rainfall is low during active growth.

Dwarf Iris bulbs don`t need to be lifted and can be left in the ground to naturalise and multiply steadily. The bulbs are small, so mark their spot so you don`t lose them! If you don`t have any plant markers handy, you could use ice cream sticks, golf teas, kebab sticks, plastic picnic knives, or whatever you have handy.

Dwarf Iris `Purple Gem` looks wonderful in a rockery, a pot or towards the front of a garden bed. You get up to four flowers per bulb and they are best planted in clumps.
