The pretty, creamy yellow flowers grow to 3cm across and are perfect for cottage gardens. The blooms open on tall, airy stems from early summer, and last well. There are plenty for picking and they last well in a vase.
Yellow Scabiosa will grow to form a nice clump of lobed, basal leaves, that are 15-40cm long.
Grow Yellow Scabiosa in a sunny garden spot with moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. They prefer a neutral to slightly alkaline PH if you wanted to be fussy. Water to establish and keep moist in active growth. Keep relatively dry over winter dormancy.
Remove spent flowers regularly during growth to keep Yellow Scabiosa plants tidy and prolong the flowering season.
Plant Yellow Scabiosa in rock gardens, mixed borders, wild gardens or large containers.
Yellow Scabiosa's botanical name is now Cephalaria alpina, it was previously Scabiosa alpina.
