A well branched shrub with lasting purple foliage turns a brilliant oranges in autumn, putting on a stunning show. You will get the best foliage colour in a full sun position.
The ornamental plumes of smoky pink flowers, from which it gets its common name, (Smoke Bush) bloom from late spring through summer.
Plant Smoke Bush in a full sun to lightly shaded position in well drained soil. Handsome in shrub borders, garden beds or as specimens. Smoke Bush 'Velvet Cloak' grows best in humus rich, moist soil but isn't too fussy. Dry hardy once established.
Prune your Smoke Bush as required, and desired. They are easy to prune as a shrub, or into a small tree.
