Big red flowers with a bright golden centre. The blooms will open in abundance on compact plants from spring to autumn.
The flowers of Marguerite Daisy 'Starlight Red' are perfect for picking and easily last over a week in a vase.
An evergreen, erect shrub with soft, finely dissected, mid green leaves, with just a hint of grey. Marguerite Daisies form soft, rounded little shrubs. They were huge a few years ago, before falling out of fashion. But with their long flowering and practical disposition, plus new breeding with a wider variety of colours, shapes and sizes, they are making a long overdue come back.
Plant Marguerite Daisies in moderately fertile to humus rich soil. Plant where they will receive at least six hours of sun a day. Protect young plants from frost.
As Marguerite Daisies establish, pinch out the new growth to encourage a more bushy plant. Then once they are up and flowering, dead head regularly during flowering, and a light prune in summer to promote more blooms.
Marguerite Daisies are well suited to coastal areas, sunny beds and borders, with roses, as well as in containers. They are salt and wind tolerant.
Marguerite Daisies are also known as Federation Daisies.
