The narrow leaves radiate from the middle of the plant creating a gorgeous, rounded, symmetrical plant. It makes a real show piece in a large container. The leaves are quite flexible unlike most Agaves and have attractive white filaments, or fine hairs flowing from them.
Twin Flowering Agave is fabulous in pots or gardens. It is easy to grow and care for with no taxing demands. A really great choice if you want something a bit different in your garden and it is lovely and full with hundreds of leaves.
As the plants mature (the time to do this varies depending how happy they are but a ball park is 10-15 years) they will send up a pair of impressive flower stems that grow 2.5-3m tall! The flower stems are marvellous mahogany with contrasting green and gold flowers. They are worth the wait!
Sadly the blooms signal the demise of the plant as it is exhausted after such a show. The good news is it takes a long time to bloom and the seeds can be harvested and grown.
Twin Flowering Agave is pretty frost hardy but if you get a lot of hard frosts a pot is likely a better idea.
In pots ideally use a cactus/succulent potting mix. In the ground, ensure your soil has good drainage. Plant in a full sun to semi shade position. Water your Twin Flowering Agave to establish, then only if rainfall is low.
