Panicum Heavy Metal
Garden rock stars!
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.
The metallic blue leaves are impressively uniform, standing to attention, proud and tall. The columnar growth is great for adding a bit of loose structure to your beds. The leaves turn yellow in autumn. They can be left to stand for winter interest or cut back hard as required.
The feathery flowers open above the leaves and last well. They have a pink tinge and age to bronze.
Panicum 'Heavy Metal' is lovely planted in swathes, as a part of cottage borders, along fence lines or even in xeriscapes. Panicum grasses are easy to grow and care for. They will tough out poor soils and don't mind the dry once they have established.
Panicums don't need to be divided as regularly as Miscanthus grasses
