A wow Salvia that is easy to fall in love with. Salvia 'Amistad' has strong growth and plenty of flowers. The blooms are dark purple and the calyxes are almost black.
Dead heading the blooms of Salvia 'Amistad' will extend the already impressive flowering season. The plants are well branched, nice and upright.
Commonly known as The Friendship Sage or Friendship Salvia. Amistad translates to friendship in Spanish.
Grow Salvia 'Amistad' in a sunny location in well drained soil. It looks fantastic in garden beds or pots. An easy one to grow throughout Australia. The leaves are mid to dark green.
Salvias should be watered in and are then dry tolerant once established. They look wonderful in beds, borders or dry gardens. Salvia 'Amistad' has vigorous growth and is easy care.
Salvia 'Amistad' is a semi evergreen variety with a woody base, which should be pruned hard in winter or early spring to encourage a well branched, bushy habit and to keep more compact.
The flowers of Salvia 'Amistad' last well in a vase. It is a hybrid of Salvia guaranitica and Salvia gesneriiflora
