Solomon's Seal Spiral Staircase
A new twist on an old favourite.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

The charming, arching stems of Solomon's Seal are just the ticket for the hard to fill shaded spots in your garden. The handsome foliage and graceful flowers are most definitely garden worthy. Polygonatum ‘Spiral Staircase’ has a bit of flair with larger, more rounded leaves that grow in a dense spiral along the twisted stems. It is as, if not a little more hardy than many we have grown.
Each stem has up to six pendent bells from late spring. The blooms are followed in autumn by small blue/black 'fruit' (inedible) that have a nice glossy sheen. The flowers are even suitable for picking.
Solomon's Seal grows well where ferns and Hostas do. They like a shaded spot with moderately fertile to humus rich soil. As they establish they will grow to form a handsome clump that will be around for years to come. Protect from slugs and snails. Water to establish then keep just moist in growth. It will gradually grow to form nice clump.
