Tree Fuchsia

A lovely, lush, evergreen shrub with a handsome, upright habit. The spectacular, rosy pink flowers open large panicles (10-25cm). In the right conditions they can flower year round with the main show summer to autumn. The floral show is extra impressive and lasting as the buds are saturated in colour so the show starts early and finishes late with a show of pink to deep blue elliptical berries. The berries are ornamental, edible and sweet.
Tree Fuchsias grow best in semi shade to filtered light conditions where they thrive in both pots and gardens. While they can grow to 3m they are easily pruned to whatever size suits you. The mid green leaves have a nice gloss.
In the garden, plant Tree Fuchsia into humus rich, moist, well drained soil and be sure to shelter the plants from drying winds and frost. In pots, use a good quality potting mix with added general purpose fertiliser. Make sure you keep them moist while actively growing.
Tree Fuchsias are endemic to the mountainous regions of Mexico and Central America.
