The petals that form the perianth are quite separate, forming a widely spaced bloom. The cup is a deeper yellow with a flat, open shape. Very late season flowers with a pleasant fragrance.
Also known as Jonquils or Jonquil type Daffodils, these flowers 'cluster' together along the stems forming an impressive display. Each of these blooms, with the exception of Snowflake, has a strong, sweet fragrance which carries beautifully throughout the garden.
These bulbs grow and flower best when planted in full sun. They are easy to look after and can be left in the ground to naturalise.
Daffodils like plenty of sun and a well drained soil.
It is a good idea to prepare your soil by digging through some well rotted manure a few weeks prior to planting. This will improve drainage and add nutrients to the soil, giving your plants a good start.
Plant Daffodil bulbs three times as deep as the bulb is high with the pointy end up. The depth will protect them from heat and soil erosion. Space 10-20cm apart, more if you are leaving the bulbs in to naturalise.
Once the flowering has finished you can remove the flower stem. Allow the foliage to remain until it has yellowed. The foliage gathers energy and nutrients at this time for next years blooms.
