Camellia 'Volunteer'
Wonderful winter bloomers.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

A fantastic, evergreen shrub with masses of gorgeous flowers. The 10cm, pin cushioned, strawberry pink flowers have a distinguishing frosty edge. They change throughout the season, from soft pink and white to deeper pinks and finally to red as their finale. A stand out choice for a part shade position.
Even without the flowers the deep green, glossy leaves are a year round feature. It was a discovered seedling from Mark Jury in New Zealand. It was named ‘Volunteer’ to honour volunteers the world over, it has even featured on a New Zealand postage stamp.
Camellias can be grown almost everywhere in Australia. Plant with protection from the hot afternoon sun, in a moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Protect them from hot, drying winds for the best growth. They are naturally resistant to pests and disease which makes them really easy care.
