A gorgeous, upright perennial with upright, red stems of fabulous, fluffy, cream flowers throughout summer. Perfect for a semi shade position to add height, colour and texture. An adaptable, long lived plant that thrives in both boggy and garden soils.
You can use the leaves and flowers to infuse drinks and foods or add flavour.
Also known as Meadowsweet, it grows well in boggy soils. They are perfect for those hard to plant out areas beside ponds and low lying areas of the garden. Rest assured they will grow well in normal beds in sun, but need to be kept moist to avoid leaf burn.
A woodland plant, Filipendula prefers a humus rich soil and thrives with generous helpings of compost. Don't expect too much in the first, year, it is in the second and subsequent years that this plant will really impress you. More flowers and more vigorous growth comes in time and soon you will wonder how you did without it! Best in part shade, but will cope in sun with good moistures.

Commonly known as Meadowsweet, previously it was classified Spirea ulmaria. It has been used as a medicinal herb for centuries. It, along with Willowbark is one of the plants that led to the development of Asprin, in the 1800s, the salicylic acid was synthesised from this plant which later lead to the drugs development.
