(51A) Peppermint Lycoris
Candy coated flowers with a sweet scent.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

The buds of the flowers are pale pink with a maroon to red stripe down the centre. The blooms open in the same way before aging to a more fleshy pink. The red stripe remains as the funnel shaped flowers open. It is this red stripe that gives the common name of Peppermint Lycoris. The sweet fragrance is strongest in the evening.
The flowers open late February to early March with up to 8 blooms on an umbel. Tepals are 5-7cm long.
The strappy foliage follows the flowers around May. Endemic to the mountains of China they are hardy members of the same family as Nerines.
